9 Months of Baby Love

On July 27th our Kaylynn Marie turned 9 months old! Can you believe it? She is waving, hi fiving, has 3.5 teeth and is all over the place! She's crawling, climbing, standing and cruising the furniture. She's now eating mostly table food and loves to eat what Mommy and Daddy are eating. Babies grow up so fast! I wasn't prepared for just how fast!

Red, White and BOOM- 4th of July 2010

We had a blast on 4th of July this year! We went to Hood Stadium's Freedom Fest. We enjoyed the carnival atmosphere with booths, games, demonstrations and displays, and most importantly, carnival type food!!! The bonus, it was FREE. The bummer, it was like 1000 degrees!

In the early evening, they did a military style ceremony with the flags from the 50 states, a 50 gun (but really cannon) salute, a B-52 flyover and a Parachute jump. I have never seen such a patriotic 4th of July event, but didn't expect anything less. During it all, I kept thinking how much Dad W. would have loved the 1st CAV demonstrations, the ceremony, and the fireworks. During the grand finale, I was thinking how lucky he was to have such a great seat for those fireworks :) Kevin enjoyed the bomb sniffing dog demonstration and Kaylynn clapped at everything! We thought the cannons would scare her but she just clapped and laughed. I guess everything is amazing when you are 8 months old. She loved the music and all of the people. I think it ranks in her top 10 favorite events of all time...so far in her 8 months ;)

The highlights of the day were the Seether concert and half hour fireworks display. The concert was amazing and those guys are soooo good! The fireworks were spectacular! Poor tired Kaylynn fell asleep 5 minutes before her first fireworks started and slept right through the grand finale, which was complete with canons and everything. Luckily, when we got home our neighbors were still lighting theirs off and they were so neat. So, on her first 4th of July, she got to experience some fireworks after all! Here are some highlights from our day...

CA Trip for Lauren's Bridal Shower

It's been busy, busy, busy around the Walter house lately, which explains the delayed blog post. Kaylynn and I went home to California June 19-28th for Lauren's Bridal Shower. We missed Kevin's first Father's Day but made sure to celebrate with dinner and breakfast before we left. We will have to make sure to make next year's pre-deployment Father's Day extra special :)

We arrived home on Saturday night and hit the ground running. We went out to Orange on Saturday night and Sunday morning to say goodbye to BJ before he left for Basic Training on Monday morning. We spent Father's Day with my dad, which was a rare treat, and were able to attend the Father's Day dinner at Grandpa Steve's. It was nice to be home and participating in a holiday, although we missed Kevin terribly.

We spent the rest of the hectic week visiting with family and friends, preparing for Lauren's shower and taking in the nice California weather. Grandma Susie, Grandpa Nacho, Auntie Katie and the whole gang loved having Kaylynn around the house, and I think they liked having me there too? LOL. We got some time to visit the Walter compound and Kaylynn got to play with her cousins. We also got a jump start on planning Kaylynn's first birthday bash. So much fun and so overwhelming! Trying to get things done so i'm not too stressed on the next trip home.

Lauren's shower was so beautiful. I had a ton of help which made my life easier. My parents were amazing and helped so much. I couldn't have pulled it all together without them and Kimmie. I'm forever in debt to everyone for all the help planning and executing a shower while living in Texas! The food was perfect, the margarita machine was a hit and the decorations were just what I had pictured. She got lots of nice gifts, and was a good sport playing the games. I think she liked the shower and we got rave reviews. Next stop...Bachelorette Party!!!

The last day we spent in California, Kaylynn turned 8 months!!! Where does the time go? We spent the day visiting with family also in town from Washington. It was so good to see my Aunt, Uncle and Cousin! Our visits are not often and long enough. Miss them!

We got home just in time for Kevin and I to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary on June 30th! We were thrilled to spend it together and took in dinner and the new Twilight movie on the 1st.

We will be back in California in August for the Lawson/Helwich Wedding Extravaganza with Kevin in tow! We can't wait to spend more time with friends and family, and watch our good friends finally get married :)
